As an individual who does not have a background in teaching, collaborative learning in mathematics really interested me. While most could use some reviewing on different math concepts and practices, I felt it was advantageous for me to focus on how best to present mathematics to students. Thus I am setting out to learn more about collaborative learning in mathematics.

My goals for this blog is as follows:

- Gain a deeper understanding collaborative learning.

- Learn how collaborative learning is best implemented in a classroom.

- Understand how collaborative learning is currently being implemented in classrooms.

- Create artifacts that will assist in collaborative learning.

- Applying collaborative learning to various facets of teaching mathematics.

My first step is to gain a deeper understanding of collaborative learning in mathematics. Through various resources I found that collaborative learning referred to lessons that promote students to work together, share their own ideas and brainstorm to solve problems. As I create my personal learning path I will be exploring the many ways that collaborative learning can be applied to teaching third grade mathematics.

Here is a video that further explains Collaborative Learning.
